Biography

 

Dr Joanne (Jo) Norcup is an interdisciplinary historical and cultural geography researcher, writer and educator and artist.

 

 

Jo is currently an Associate Lecturer in the School of Geography and Global Studies in the faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the Open University and is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Yesu Persaud Centre for Caribbean Studies, University of Warwick.

 

Professional Affiliations.

  • Chair-Elect, Historical Geography Research Group, RGS-IBG (2023-2024)
  • Lifetime Honorary Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) (awarded by the RGS for services to Geography with particular focus on Historical Geography).
  • Conference Officer of the Historical Geography Research Group, RGS-IBG (2018 – 2021).
  • Member of the Race, Culture and Equality Working Group, RGS-IBG.
  • Member of the Royal Historical Society.
